I. Core Selection Criteria for Event Chairs
Different type of materials for event chairs:
Resin Materials Event Chairs

Two main types of resin will be used for wedding chairs. One is polypropylene (PP) and the other is polycarbonate (PC). Polypropylene is a soft resin with limited flexibility. Despite tinting it with masterbatch for variety, the material cannot become transparent due to limitations.
Even so, the event folding chair is made from this material too. While its resilience is restricted, it suffices for daily chair use. Its low cost makes it ideal chairs at weddings for budget-conscious clients. For wedding or banquet scenes requiring dreamy romantic ambiance through transparency, only Polycarbonate (PC) chairs apply. As a rigid resin, PC chairs withstand over 500kg weight. Their signature trait is full transparency. Resin dining chairs have a big advantage over chairs made from other materials. They resist water and moisture better.
For resin banquet chairs, we recommend these models:
✓ PP Material: Wimbledon chair, one-piece chiavari chair, knockdown cross back chair, and Louis chairs, resin folding chairs.
✓ PC Material: Clear chiavari chair, Napoleon chair, Phoenix chair, Belle chair and Ghost chairs.
Metal Materials Event Chairs

The three primary metal event chair types are iron, aluminum, and stainless steel. Metal chairs offer greater durability than resin alternatives.
Price ascending order: iron < aluminum < stainless steel.
Iron chairs (e.g., Chiavari chair, chameleon chair, banquet chair styles) adequately serve weddings and restaurants. Post-powder coating, both iron and aluminum chairs achieve finishes like gold, silver, black, or white. If you are starting a event table and chair rentals business, choose iron or aluminum dining chairs. They are durable and cost less and the best choice for event rental.
Key differences:
Iron: Heavier, prone to rust, limited design flexibility.
Aluminum: Lighter, rust-resistant, higher malleability for complex shapes.
For budget-limited scenarios with infrequent use, iron remains viable. Stainless steel is the sole option for gold-like luster and unique designs. Titanium-gold vacuum electroplating creates a mirror-like sheen. Its drawback is higher cost. The best choice for royalty events is a high-end banquet hall.
For stainless steel dining chairs, we recommend these models:
✓ Iron Material: Chiavari chair, Napoleon chair, Chameleon chair, Banquet chair, Church chair
✓ Aluminum Material: Louis Chair, Phoenix Chair.
✓ Stainless Steel Chair: O back chair, Infinity chair, cross legs chair, high back dining chair
Solid Wood Materials Event Chairs:

Character | Beech | Toona (Chinese Mahogany) | Oak (Red/White) |
---|---|---|---|
Grain Pattern | Fine straight grain, wave figure | Reddish-brown, mahogany-like grain |
Bold wave figure; white oak: light tan red oak: pinkish |
Hardness/Density | Hard (0.66-0.77 g/cm³) | Hard, rot-resistant | Extreme (0.75-0.85 g/cm³) |
Drying Cracking Risk | (High risk) | (Stable in Toona) | (Requires precision drying) |
Price Level | Mid-high (Lower than oak) | Mid-premium (Toona costly) | Premium (High import cost) |
The primary materials for solid wood wedding chairs are: beech, Toona spp. (Chinese mahogany/Ailanthus), and oak. The differences between these three raw materials are:
Beech: Hard wood, fine grain, color ranges from light yellow to reddish-brown. Prominent grain pattern with minimal color variation. Bends easily under steam, suitable for curved furniture designs. Good gluing properties and easy to finish.
Toona spp. (Chinese Mahogany/Ailanthus): Easy to work with and water-resistant. Toona sinensis wood is hard and rot-resistant; its heartwood is reddish-brown with beautiful grain resembling mahogany. Ailanthus altissima wood is more greyish-white with coarser grain.
Oak: Distinct grain pattern. White oak is light yellow-brown; red oak is pinkish-brown. Coarse texture, wear-resistant, and rot-resistant, but difficult to dry and prone to warping.
Solid wood wedding chairs offer better texture than other materials. If wood grain matters, choose Oak or Toon wood. For cost savings without emphasis on grain, Beech is budget-friendly. Though colors vary with finishing, natural tones differ: Beech and Toon have brownish undertones, yielding deeper colors than Oak. Choose lighter shades for these woods. The solid wood rustic chairs can create warm, romantic ambiance or weddings themed under lighting.
For rustic dining chairs, we recommend these models:
✓ Beech wood: chivary chair, napoleon chair, phoenix chair
✓ Mahogany wood: cross back chair, thoent chair, bentwood chair
✓ Oak wood: cross back chair, louis chair, cane back chair
